Adam Lallana: Steven Gerrard is "irreplaceable" at Liverpool

Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana is adamant that his side cannot replace Steven Gerrard with another player, but believes that they can still succeed without him.

Adam Lallana has declared that Steven Gerrard is "impossible" to replace at Liverpool.

The 35-year-old ended his 17-year career with the Reds at the end of last season and will soon join up with MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy.

Lallana has insisted that the Merseysiders cannot buy a player to replace Gerrard's presence on the pitch and in the dressing room, but feels that the club can still have success without him.

"He's irreplaceable because of the type of player he has been," Lallana told reporters.

"You won't want anyone to have the weight on their shoulders that they are coming in directly to replace Steven - it's just impossible. So we are going to have to find a different way of winning games and playing games."

Gerrard made 710 appearances for the Reds in his time with the club.
