Manchester City winger Leroy Sane insists that nobody will care about his side's 4-3 defeat to Liverpool "when" they win the Premier League title this season.

Manchester City winger Leroy Sane has played down the significance of his side's first Premier League defeat of the season.

Pep Guardiola's side had been tipped to replicate a feat only managed by two other teams in English football history by going through an entire campaign unbeaten before falling to a memorable 4-3 defeat at the hands of Liverpool this afternoon.

Sane admitted that he was disappointed to have lost at Anfield, but City still boast a 15-point lead at the top of the table and the German winger is confident that no-one will care about the defeat "when" his side go on to lift the Premier League trophy.

"It must have been an incredible game for the fans, so many goals but for us it was not the best day," Sane told reporters.

"We show character in every game, we always try to score goals. We are disappointed to lose a game, it is a long time since we won here at Anfield.

"But at the end of the season, when we win the Premier League, nobody cares if we lost a game."

The defeat is City's first in their last 31 Premier League games, ending the sixth-longest top-flight unbeaten run in English football history.
