Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson believes that Raheem Sterling should commit his future to the Merseyside club as he believes that Anfield is the "best place for him".
The England international does not intend to reopen negotiations regarding a new deal until the summer after he rejected a £100,000-a-week offer from the Reds midway through the season.
On Thursday, Henderson, who is widely expected to replace Steven Gerrard as captain next season, put pen to paper on a new contract reportedly worth £100,000 a week.
"I've known Raheem for a good few years now. He is a good friend of mine and my teammate," Henderson told the Liverpool Echo.
"He has just got to do whatever he thinks is best but, if I was giving him advice, of course I would say, 'this is Liverpool'. I think this is the best place for him, but at the end of the day that decision is up to him. He is a fantastic player for us."
Sterling has been linked to Arsenal, Manchester City, Juventus, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich in the last few months.
