A report claims that Liverpool are eager to bring in a new attacking player this summer and are prepared to spend big.

Liverpool have reportedly made 'substantial' funds available for this summer's transfer window to bring in a new attacker in the mould of Mohamed Salah.

The Reds' focus in the January window was solely on bringing in new defenders to compensate for the long-term loss of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip.

Jurgen Klopp's men continue to be linked with other defensive options, such as RB Leipzig's Ibrahima Konate, but they are also eager to strengthen in attack.

According to The Transfer Window podcast, Liverpool are on the lookout for a player who can make a similar impact to that of Salah, who has 119 goals in 192 appearances.

It is claimed that the Merseyside outfit are searching the market for a prolific player who is comfortable playing both out wide and through the middle, which they know will set them back a large amount of cash.

Liverpool return to Premier League action on Saturday with a trip to Arsenal.
