Christian Gourcuff has said that Jeremie Aliadiere will still be a Lorient player at the end of the transfer window.
It is understood that Newcastle United made a bid for the 29-year-old but that the Ligue 1 side have turned down the offer.
The coach told French newspaper L'Equipe: "I know Jeremie's wife is missing England a lot but I know Jeremie will still be here on February 1.
"Losing such a decisive player in the middle of a season would be an aberration.
"If Jeremie were to leave, we would have money, but money won't replace the player. That excludes any January transfer whatever the fee is. In June, it would be different."
The striker has previously had spells at Arsenal, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Middlesbrough.
