Malaga have confirmed that Turkish forward Nordin Amrabat suffered a serious knee injury in Saturday's goalless draw at Real Madrid.
Amrabat, 28, who was sent off at the Bernabeu, picked up the injury during a clash with Los Blancos defender Nacho, but the initial diagnosis was just bruising.
The swelling did not subside, however, and after ordering tests, Malaga have revealed that he suffered a torn external meniscus in his right knee, which will require surgery to correct.
The Moroccan international, who joined Malaga on a permanent deal from Galatasaray in the summer, will undergo an operation on Friday and is expected to be on the sidelines for a minimum of two months.
