David Silva targets Barcelona scalp

Man City ace David Silva says that the Sky Blues boast enough quality in the team to knock Barcelona out of the Champions League.

Manchester City midfielder David Silva believes that the Sky Blues boast enough quality to knock Barcelona out of the Champions League this season.

Manuel Pellegrini's men host the European giants at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday, before travelling to Catalunya for the return leg three weeks later.

The Citizens have scored over 100 goals in all competitions this season, and the Spain international is convinced that the Catalans will need to work hard to progress to the quarter-final stage of the tournament.

He told Onda Cero: "We have a great team and if we are at our best we can go through. But we know that against Barca we must be aware of all the players, not just [Lionel] Messi."

Next week's first-leg encounter is scheduled to kick off at 7.45pm.
