Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry feels that he and his teammates can't blame their FA Cup Final defeat to Wigan Athletic on speculation regarding manager Roberto Mancini's future.

Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry is adamant that his side can't blame their FA Cup final defeat to Wigan Athletic on the speculation regarding manager Roberto Mancini's future before the game.

Reports circulated that the Italian would leave the club at the end of the season and would be replaced by Malaga coach Manuel Pellegrini.

He told Sky Sports News: "We are professionals. We can't use something like that as an excuse.

"We have it not just before this game, but all this season and last season as well. What happened today has nothing to do with the speculation.

"We have had one of those days. It'll make no difference to where this club wants to go. We have to learn from the season we have had and push on next season, raise it to another level."

After winning the Premier League last season, City have failed to clinch any trophies this campaign.
