Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has been charged by the Football Association for "an alleged act of violent conduct".
During City's 3-1 victory over West Ham United on Sunday afternoon, the Argentine appeared to swing an elbow at Hammers defender Winston Reid, although the incident was missed by the officials.
However, the 28-year-old now faces a three-match suspension after the FA announced that it had charged the forward, who now has until 6pm on Wednesday to decide whether to appeal the punishment.
If Aguero accepts the charge or fails to overturn it, he will miss fixtures with Manchester United, Bournemouth and Swansea City.
Aguero is also nursing a calf injury picked up in the game at the Etihad Stadium.
