Mario Balotelli says that he has "grown up" but understands that he was wrong to visit a strip club two days before a Manchester City match.

Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli has admitted that he made the wrong decision to go to a strip club but has insisted that he has "grown up".

The former Inter Milan star could be fined by the Premier League club after angering manager Roberto Mancini when reports emerged that the 21-year-old had visited a strip club in Liverpool.

Mancini recently suggested that getting married would force Balotelli to calm his antics.

"This year I have already scored 14 goals and a pair of penalties, and the intensity and effort I put into training this year, are not comparable to last season," Balotelli told La Gazzetta dello Sport. "I have grown up, I have understood certain things."

"Do I think to marry? For me it is not soon," he admitted. "When you find the right person, it may be the time. Raffaella (his girlfriend) is the best thing that ever happened to me. It gives me peace of mind, she understands me when I make a mess.

"I have not done anything wrong at the strip club, even though I was wrong to go there two days before a game. The fine? I don't know yet. I have to talk with Mancini."

The Italian frontman scored in City's 2-0 win over Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.
