Frank Lampard has insisted that Manchester City will continue to take their season game by game having moved within six points of leaders Chelsea in the Premier League table.
The 10-man Citizens beat Southampton 3-0 at St Mary's this afternoon to reignite their title defence.
A shaky start to the campaign saw Manuel Pellegrini come under pressure at the Etihad Stadium, but his side have found form with three wins from three in all competitions following the recent international break.
"We all look at tables during the week, and we are disappointed with where we are for a club like City," Lampard, who is expected to link up with parent club New York City in January, told Sky Sports News. "We have to keep winning, keep moving forwards and go game by game."
Asked about his future plans in the New Year, the former Chelsea star added: "I'm just concentrating week to week. We'll see what happens."
Next up for the champions is a trip to Sunderland in midweek.
