Manchester City confirm Vincent Kompany appeal

Champions Manchester City reveal they that have decided to appeal the red card that captain Vincent Kompany received against Arsenal.

Manchester City have lodged an appeal against Vincent Kompany's red card against Arsenal yesterday afternoon.

The centre-back was handed his marching orders by referee Mike Dean in the 76th minute for a tackle on Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere.

However, having reviewed video footage of the incident, City believe that the verdict was unjust and have opted to submit a challenge with the Football Association.

Should the FA uphold the original decision, captain Kompany will miss his side's next three matches.
