Inter Milan and Liverpool are reportedly plotting a move for Manchester City midfielder David Silva.

The Sun claims that Liverpool's Emre Can, who is yet to sign a new deal at Anfield and is free to sign a pre-contract with another club in the New Year, could be replaced by Silva in midfield.

The Spaniard is also seen as an alternative to England international Adam Lallana, who is still out through injury.

Serie A side Inter are second in the Italian top flight and manager Luciano Spalletti is reportedly keen to bolster his options should his side qualify for next season's Champions League.

Both clubs will face competition from City themselves, with Pep Guardiola reportedly wanting to tie Silva down to another 12 months at the Etihad.

The 31-year-old featured in City's 3-1 win over Arsenal on Sunday as the Citizens secured another important league win.
