Manchester City left-back Gael Clichy has expressed his sadness at being left out of France's World Cup squad in Brazil.
Manager Didier Deschamps opted not to select the 28-year-old, along with his teammate Samir Nasri, in his 23-man squad.
"It's life and if it is my only bad luck then I am happy because my family are healthy," the Daily Mail quotes Clichy as saying. "Of course I am sad, it is a big tournament you don't want to miss, but I will be fresh for next year, so that is good."
Clichy picked up a Premier League winners' medal with Man City last Sunday after they secured a 2-0 win over West Ham United to finish two points above runners-up Liverpool.
