Uruguayan will not feature for his national team during the international break.

Luis Suarez has given Barcelona an injury scare ahead of their Champions League clash with Manchester United.

The 32-year-old scored one and provided another as Barca won 4-1 at Real Betis on Sunday evening, before having to be taken off in the dying stages.

LaLiga's leaders have now confirmed that Suarez sustained a sprained ankle that will rule him out of action for Uruguay and the remainder of March.

Barcelona said in a statement: "Tests carried out on Monday morning have confirmed that first team player Luis Suarez has a sprained right ankle.

"He will be out for 10-15 days and will now undertake his recovery with the FC Barcelona medical team, having been withdrawn from the Uruguayan national team squad."

Barca will be hoping Suarez makes a straightforward recovery given they travel to Old Trafford for the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final against United on April 10.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side head to the Nou Camp for the return fixture on April 16.
