Man City bidding for new club unbeaten record against Man United

Manchester City can set an all-time club record of 29 matches unbeaten if they avoid defeat against Manchester United in Sunday's derby.

Manchester City will be aiming to set a new all-time club unbeaten record when they welcome Manchester United to the Etihad Stadium for Sunday's derby.

Pep Guardiola's ruthless team are enjoying a seemingly unstoppable charge towards the Premier League title having won 21 games on the bounce in all competitions, including their last 15 in the top flight.

City have not tasted defeat in any tournament since losing 2-0 to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League back in November, and if United fail to get the better of their adversaries today, the league leaders will set a new club-record of 29 games unbeaten across all competitions.

Furthermore, their record of 21 consecutive wins is the third best ever in the top five European leagues - behind Real Madrid's 22 in 2014 and Bayern Munich's 23 in 2020 - and City are six triumphs off the all-time record held by The New Saints, who prevailed 27 times in a row back in 2016.

Guardiola's side start the day 14 points clear of Man United at the top of the pile, while second-placed Leicester City are the closest challengers as they sit 12 behind, albeit having played a game more.
