Former Manchester United midfielder Jordi Cruyff has suggested that struggling winger Memphis Depay needs to be handed more playing time.
Depay arrived in Manchester last year after long being touted as a potential world-class talent, but has been unable to find a place in the team's starting XI despite the club operating under two different managerial reigns during his time in the Premier League.
Cruyff, who spent four seasons with the Old Trafford club, does not believe that the 22-year-old's career at the Reds is over, though, having stated that Jose Mourinho needs to give the youngster more minutes on the pitch in order to aid his development.
"For sure, United are an amazing club, but I also think Depay is a good player," Cruyff told Gulf News.
"In terms of stats, he's not getting enough minutes, but I don't know the ins and outs. But for sure, he has potential and he's showed that.
"Now the trick is to get that potential out on a weekly basis. Eventually it will come, but you just don't know where and when."
Depay has played 33 games for United, scoring two goals in the process.
