West Ham United defender Issa Diop says that he has improved over the past year since helping the Hammers defeat Manchester United last September.

West Ham United defender Issa Diop has suggested that he is fully focused on delivering a strong performance against Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.

Soon after his arrival last summer, Diop starred as the Hammers recorded a 3-1 win over United at the London Stadium.

However, despite the praise for his performance on that day, the centre-back has said that he wants to build on that display in the corresponding fixture this weekend.

The 22-year-old told Sky Sports News: "We did a very good game, winning 3-1 but for me it was not perfect because we conceded a goal so I wasn't very happy.

"Personally I don't think I played a very good game and when I reviewed it, I saw what I did wrong and this year I am going to try to improve on it. I think I am already a better player, I have more experience but I still need to improve and will continue to work towards that."

Diop was linked with a switch to Old Trafford earlier this year before United eventually signed Harry Maguire from Leicester City.
