Spanish midfielder Ander Herrera insists that Manchester United's pre-season results are not important.

Ander Herrera has insisted that Manchester United's pre-season results are not important due to the number of first-team players that the team are currently missing.

Jose Mourinho's side drew with Club America, San Jose Earthquakes and AC Milan in their first three pre-season matches before suffering a 4-1 defeat to bitter rivals Liverpool on Saturday night.

Herrera has started all four of the club's fixtures this summer due to a lack of numbers, and the Spaniard has insisted that the Red Devils are not concerned by their results ahead of the new campaign.

"The least important thing is the result right now," Herrera told the club's official website. "We are playing with the same players every game. It looks like a Christmas period to be honest rather than a pre-season, but it is what it is.

"We have to be all together, to try to have minutes in our legs, to not think too much about the results and let's try to keep improving because the most important thing is Leicester. Of course it is never nice to lose. But pre-season is pre-season."

United will continue their preparations for the new season with a clash against the European champions Real Madrid on Tuesday night.
