Manchester United supporters welcome back David de Gea

Supporters welcome David de Gea back into the Manchester United first team after the Spaniard was handed his first appearance of the season against Liverpool.

Manchester United supporters have overwhelmingly welcomed David de Gea back into the first-team fold.

The Spaniard missed each of the Red Devils' opening six fixtures after being linked with a move to Real Madrid.

After seeing a switch to the Bernabeu break down, and subsequently signing a new four-year deal at the club, De Gea returned for United's Premier League meeting with Liverpool this evening.

It was an uneventful first half at Old Trafford, but many fans greeted their No.1 back with homemade signs and placards, including the young supporter below.

Sergio Romero, who stood in for De Gea in each of United's opening games, dropped down to the bench for the visit of Liverpool.
