Robin van Persie insists that he is "surrounded by champions" at Manchester United after the Red Devils surged to a seven-point lead in the title race this week.

Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has given credit to his teammates as the Red Devils lead the charge for the Premier League title following the festive fixtures.

The North-West outfit, who missed out on the trophy to fierce rivals Manchester City last season, currently top the league table by seven points.

"This is a special team," The Express quotes Van Persie as saying. "Everybody wants to help each other, everybody is keen for everyone to score.

"Defenders are working their socks off for the midfielders, the midfielders are working for the strikers. Everybody wants to run and everybody has one target in their mind.

"We have to look at it game by game but everybody wants to be champions. I feel that I'm surrounded by champions. They know how to win and that makes it really easy for me."

The Dutchman, who moved to Old Trafford from Arsenal last summer, has netted 19 goals in all competitions for United so far in their campaign.
