Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admits that his team "need a player" like Bryan Robson.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has claimed that his team "need a player" like Bryan Robson.

United have been active in this summer's transfer window, completing deals for defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka and winger Daniel James ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.

The Red Devils are still alive in the market, though, and Solskjaer has suggested that his team are lacking a leader in the mould of Robson, who starred for the club between 1981 and 1994.

"I never had the honour of playing with Robbo, but we need a player like him in the team," Solskjaer told reporters. "We need to win again. We are on the way to building a new squad. We've got new staff in, coaching staff. I believe so much in this club and this project."

Robson scored 99 times in 461 appearances for United, winning two Premier League titles and three FA Cup crowns during his time with the club.

Solskjaer's side opened their preparations for the 2019-20 campaign with a 2-0 win over Perth Glory at the weekend.

Next up for the English giants is a clash with rivals Leeds United on Wednesday.
