Jaap Stam backs Manchester United for Premier League title glory next season

Jaap Stam is confident that Louis van Gaal will guide Manchester United to the Premier League title, possibly next season.

Former Manchester United defender Jaap Stam has expressed his belief that manager Louis van Gaal is capable of guiding the team to Premier League glory next season.

The main objective in Van Gaal's first season in charge at Old Trafford was to get the club back into the Champions League after they finished seventh under David Moyes in the previous campaign.

The Red Devils have managed to reach their target as they are currently fourth in the table with just one game remaining.

Stam is confident that Van Gaal can bring success to the club as he built up his pedigree with spells at Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

"Louis van Gaal is a great builder of a team - he's proven that in Munich and Barcelona," Stam told the club's official website. "He knows what to do, he's got his own thing that he wants to do, he keeps following that and that's why he's had success.

"In terms of next season, if he can bring in a couple of new players and carry on working with the youngsters, telling them what to do and showing them videos, he's going to win the league I think. Hopefully next season."

United are 15 points behind champions Chelsea.
