Warnock fears Cantona repeat

Neil Warnock claims that there could be a repeat of Eric Cantona's "kung-fu" kick if abusive chants are not stopped.

Queens Park Rangers boss Neil Warnock has insisted that there could be a repeat of Eric Cantona's infamous "kung-fu" kick if nothing is done about abusive chants at football matches.

Warnock, who called on the Football Association to investigate abusive crowds earlier in the week, has warned that all it takes is the wrong footballer and the right amount of abuse before a player attacks a fan, as the Frenchman did at Selhurst Park.

"It's getting ridiculous, the chants at players and managers," he said. "And nothing is being done about it – it's like fans can do what they want. Something has to be done.

"Could we end up with another Cantona incident? Some players have lower thresholds than others.

"I think clubs should be fined if they don't try to eliminate obscene chants. I don't think personal abuse of any player should be allowed at any club, including QPR."

Ahead of their trip to Anfield this weekend, Warnock's side are in 12th place in the Premier League.
