AC Milan are interested in signing Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood this summer, according to a report.

AC Milan have reportedly expressed an interest in signing Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood.

The 21-year-old has not featured for the Red Devils since January 2022, as he was facing serious criminal charges following allegations from a woman last year.

However, having seen all criminal charges against him dropped, the England international is free to resume his career, and it is unclear whether that will be at Man United.

Greenwood was initially arrested last January on suspicion of rape and assault, and he was then further arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill.

The forward was also facing charges of attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, with a trial date set for November 2023, but the case has now been dropped, with the forward now looking to resume his footballing career.

Man United are currently investigating the situation, with the club considering all options available, which include bringing him back into the first-team set-up for the 2023-24 campaign.

However, there is also a chance that Greenwood's contract could be terminated, with a decision on the Englishman's future at Old Trafford likely to be made over the summer.

A number of Turkish clubs are believed to be interested in signing the striker, who has a contract with the 20-time English champions until the summer of 2025.

However, according to Relevo, there is also firm interest from Milan, with the Italian giants 'admirers of his technical ability', which could lead to them making a move this summer.

Greenwood is allegedly open to moving abroad to resume his career, but his priority is believed to be remaining at Man United, where he came through the youth system.

The attacker has scored 35 goals and registered 12 assists in 129 appearances for the Red Devils since debuting in 2018, and he was regarded as one of the best young talents in European football before his arrest.

A recent report claimed that Greenwood has told Man United bosses that he wants to return to the club 'as soon as possible'.

However, the striker will remain suspended for the remainder of the 2022-23 campaign, with the Red Devils still conducting their own investigation into the situation.

Man United's final decision will take into account the views of sponsors and fan groups, in addition to the club's women's team, who are believed to be against him returning to action.
