A report claims that Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho will move for Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Higuain if the Blues fail to sign Manchester United's Wayne Rooney this summer.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho will reportedly move for Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Higuain if the Blues fail in their pursuit of Manchester United's Wayne Rooney.

Mourinho confirmed earlier this week that the club had submitted a bid for Rooney, but the Premier League champions continue to insist that the England international is not for sale.

According to the Daily Star, Mourinho will switch his focus to Higuain, who played under Mourinho at Madrid last season, if no movement is made on Rooney over the next few days.

Arsenal, Liverpool and Napoli have also been widely linked with Higuain's services this summer.
