Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has admitted that he does not know whether the club will back him in the January transfer market.
Mourinho was frustrated by the board's lack of spending during the summer window, particularly as they missed out on a string of defensive targets.
A new centre-back is understood to be at the top of Mourinho's wish list once again next month, with reports linking them to a world-record bid for Kalidou Koulibaly, but the Portuguese has conceded that he does not know whether any new faces will arrive at Old Trafford.
"I don't know if we are going to have new players – I would like to – but I don't know if it is possible or not. It depends on the club," he told reporters.
"Honestly, I'm focused on my job of playing Liverpool and next week playing Cardiff, and I'm more focused on that."
United take on bitter rivals Liverpool this afternoon looking to inflict a first league defeat of the season on their Anfield hosts.
