Villarreal centre-back Pau Torres is again a transfer target for Manchester United, according to a report.

Manchester United are reportedly keen on signing Villarreal centre-back Pau Torres this summer.

Despite bringing Raphael Varane to Old Trafford last year, the Red Devils are believed to be planning to move for another central defender during this summer's transfer window.

Phil Jones, Eric Bailly and Axel Tuanzebe could all potentially be on their way out of the club in the upcoming market, which would leave them short of experienced options at the back.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the 20-time English champions have reignited their interest in Torres, having been keen on the Spain international last summer.

Tottenham Hotspur were also thought to be close to signing the defender last year, but he ultimately remained with Villarreal in order to represent the club in the Champions League.

Torres has again been a vital player for the Yellow Submarine during the 2021-22 campaign, making 40 appearances in all competitions, contributing five goals in the process.

Harry Maguire's position as captain of the club is currently being called into question, but it is unlikely that the England international will leave Old Trafford in the upcoming market, while Victor Lindelof is also expected to remain with the Red Devils despite largely struggling to convince since his arrival in 2017.
