David Moyes quiet on Gareth Bale bid

David Moyes refuses to confirm or deny if Manchester United made a bid for Gareth Bale during the summer transfer window.

David Moyes has refused to comment on speculation that Manchester United failed with an offer for Gareth Bale in the summer.

The Welsh international joined Real Madrid from Tottenham Hotspur in a deal worth £86m last month.

However, Madrid president Florentino Perez claimed today that his club were forced into action upon learning that the Premier League champions had launched a bid for Bale's services.

However, when asked about Perez's comments during a press conference this afternoon, Moyes opted not to answer: "If I was [interested in Bale], I wouldn't tell you. We don't talk about it. I wouldn't comment on that," said the Scot.

Moyes's side take on rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford in a League Cup tie tomorrow night.
