Sergio Romero is reportedly hopeful that Manchester United will terminate his contract and subsequently allow him to leave the club on a free transfer.
The 33-year-old is now the fourth-choice goalkeeper at Old Trafford, with David de Gea, Dean Henderson and Lee Grant all ahead of him in the pecking order.
Romero has been left out of the club's Premier League and Champions League squads, suggesting that he has played his last game for the 20-time English champions.
The Argentina international has allegedly held talks with United officials in recent days, and according to the Daily Star, the stopper is hoping that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side will terminate his contract.
Romero, who has a deal with United until next June, has been offered the chance to return to former side Racing Club by their president Victor Blanco, while a number of MLS clubs are said to be interested.
The South American has made 61 appearances for the Red Devils in all competitions and has been widely praised for his contribution when selected.
