Victor Valdes "almost ready" to return

Goalkeeper Victor Valdes is close to recovering from a knee injury, which could reportedly see him join Manchester United.

Former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes has revealed that he is "almost ready" to return to action.

The Spaniard has been sidelined since March when he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament while playing for the Catalan outfit.

He allowed his contract at the Camp Nou to expire in the summer, which made him a free agent.

The 32-year-old has recently been training with Manchester United to aid his recuperation and the Red Devils are believed to be keen to sign the keeper to provide competition for his compatriot David de Gea between the posts.

No deal has been agreed, but the confirmation from Valdes that he has almost made a full recovery could speed along the negotiations, according to reports in England and Spain.

Current United manager Louis van Gaal handed Valdes his Barca debut back in 2002.ID:187584: cacheID:187584:1false2false3false:QQ:: from db desktop :LenBod:restore:2215:
