Manchester City will look to take advantage of Marc Guehi's contract situation at Crystal Palace next summer, according to a report.

Manchester City will reportedly look to take advantage of Marc Guehi's contract situation to move for the Crystal Palace centre-back next summer.

Guehi's future was the subject of much speculation over the summer, with Newcastle United thought to have made at least four offers for his services.

The biggest bid from the Magpies is believed to have been in the region of £60m plus £5m in add-ons, but it was not enough to convince Palace to let him leave.

The 24-year-old is in the final two years of his contract at Selhurst Park, though, and according to the Daily Mail, the England international is not keen to sign an extension with the London club.

Man City are allegedly keeping a close eye on the situation and could move for him next summer, when Palace will be under more pressure to sell.

The report claims that the Citizens could even wait until the summer of 2026 and sign Guehi on a free transfer, if Palace are unable to convince him to sign a new deal.

Newcastle are thought to be considering reigniting their interest in the Englishman next year, while Manchester United are also said to be admirers.

Guehi made the move to Palace from Chelsea in 2021, and he has represented the Eagles on 115 occasions in all competitions, including 101 Premier League appearances.

Harry Maguire's injury opened the door for Guehi to be a starter for England at Euro 2024, meanwhile, and he proved to be one of his country's most impressive performers during the European Championship.

Palace chairman says club wanted "superstar money" for Guehi

Palace co-owner and chairman Steve Parish said over the summer that Guehi would only be allowed to leave Selhurst Park for "superstar money".

"We'd like to keep hold of him. There's a price and a situation where we might consider it," Parish told BBC Sport. "Somebody [in another interview] said he's a superstar, so somebody has got to pay superstar money.

"Realistically, homegrown, 24 years old, sensational talent, somebody has to make it difficult for us. At the moment it isn't. He'll still be at Crystal Palace at the moment, but it's not impossible.

"He is certainly not making anybody's life difficult, his agents are decent people. It's a very good situation. Whether he is here or not will make no difference to how he performs."

Newcastle could not come up with a suitable offer over the summer, but if Guehi does not sign a new deal at Selhurst Park, then it will be a lot more difficult for the club to turn down that sort of money in 2025.
