Papiss Cisse urges Newcastle United fans to end Alan Pardew protests

Newcastle striker Papiss Cisse urges fans to get behind Alan Pardew and end their protests after claiming that they are damaging the team.

Papiss Cisse has appealed to Newcastle United supporters to halt their protests over manager Alan Pardew after claiming that the discontent is damaging the team.

The Magpies are one of two sides yet to register a Premier League victory this season - along with newly-promoted Burnley - as Pardew's position with the club continues to grow uncertain.

Newcastle fans have rallied for a change of manager in recent weeks, but Cisse says that their protests are counter-productive and negatively affecting the team's performances.

"Yes, I know this moment is not easy for him," he told Sky Sports News. "The team don't think about that one [protests] because the players just play.

"It is for the gaffer, but it's not good for the team. It's not easy for the players because it is the player playing the game.

"You have to believe in yourself and believe in the team. You have to keep going and work hard and maybe one day it will come good."

Cisse could perhaps be responsible for saving the 53-year-old's job for the time being after the Senegalese struck twice in Saturday's 2-2 draw away to Swansea City.
