Gabriel Obertan confident of Newcastle United improvement

Gabriel Obertan is confident that Newcastle will turn their recent run of poor form around following Saturday's draw with Swansea.

Newcastle United winger Gabriel Obertan has backed the team to turn their recent run of poor form around following Saturday's 2-2 draw with Swansea.

The Frenchman made his first start of the season at the Liberty Stadium and set up a goal as the Magpies came from behind twice to earn a point.

Despite Newcastle's struggles near the bottom of the table, Obertan is confident that they will soon be climbing up the standings.

"The results haven't been great so far - that is true - but it is going to turn around," the 25-year-old told the club's official website.

"This game may even be the turning point. It could be - only our results and performances in the next few weeks will show whether it is or not. But we have gained confidence from this game and want to take that forward."

Newcastle are back in action on October 18 when they host Leicester City in the league.
