Jack Colback has claimed that Newcastle United owe the supporters a strong finish to the season following their recent weak form.
Another poor end to a Premier League campaign has seen the Magpies lose five successive games, but Colback does believe that the team showed signs of improving in Monday's loss to Liverpool a week after slipping to a 1-0 defeat in the Tyne-Wear derby.
"This is a huge club which deserves more than it is getting at the moment," the midfielder told reporters. "It's a difficult situation we're in - we've not got a lot of players.
"The minimum we could do was to be better than our last game. We had to show a reaction.
"The character is there in the team even if we didn't show it last week."
