New Everton midfielder Dele Alli rejected a move to Newcastle United due to their late interest, according to a report.
The 25-year-old had been linked with a move away from Tottenham Hotspur throughout the month after he had struggled for game time throughout the season, making only 10 appearances so far in the Premier League.
In the end, Alli opted to sign for Everton, linking up with new manager Frank Lampard as he aims to hit the restart button on his career and help the Toffees climb away from the relegation zone.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Magpies called Alli while he was undergoing his medical with Everton, and it was the lateness of the offer that put the midfielder off.
There had been reports that Eddie Howe's side were interested in signing the England international, but the official interest ended up coming too late for the player.
Alli will not be able to make his debut for the Toffees this weekend due to the fact he is cup-tied, therefore his first appearance could be next Tuesday in their Premier League fixture against Newcastle.
