Football Association general secretary Alex Horne has claimed that the governing body would be "delighted" if London were chosen as a host city for the 2020 European Championships.
UEFA announced a list of the 39 cities hoping to be part of the tournament, with Wembley being put forward to represent London.
"We would be delighted for London and Wembley Stadium to be chosen to host either of the two packages available and we look forward to working with UEFA on the forthcoming selection process," BBC Sport quotes Horne as saying.
"It would be great to see England playing in front of their home fans here in London as part of a Euro finals tournament but many countries have also put themselves forward as hosts and we expect this to be a very competitive bidding process."
The final 13 cities will be decided on September 25 next year.
