Chris Hughton hopeful over Gary Hooper injury

Norwich City manager Chris Hughton reveals that striker Gary Hooper will undergo an X-ray to determine the severity of an ankle injury picked up against Panathinaikos on Saturday afternoon.

Norwich City manager Chris Hughton is hopeful that Gary Hooper's ankle injury will not keep him out for a significant period of time.

Hooper was stretchered off early in the second half of the club's game with Panathinaikos, but Hughton doesn't believe that an X-ray will show any extensive damage.

The 54-year-old told the club's official website: "Gary has been taken for a precautionary X-ray. He got a whack on the shin, it was an awkward challenge.

"We'll wait and see what the X-ray shows but hopefully it's just a whack which will be a bit sore rather than anything more serious."

The Canaries won the game 2-0, thanks to two goals from midfielder Bradley Johnson.
