Stuart Pearce keen to "build on" Blackpool win

Nottingham Forest boss Stuart Pearce wants his troops to use the 2-0 victory over Blackpool as the foundations for a successful Championship campaign.

Stuart Pearce has challenged his Nottingham Forest team to use their 2-0 win over Blackpool today as a springboard to scale lofty heights this season.

First-half strikes from summer signings Michail Antonio and Chris Burke helped Pearce enjoy a winning start as Forest boss on the opening day of the Championship season.

However, the 52-year-old admits that he is "disappointed" over his side's failure to kill the game off in the second half.

"All things considered I think it was a good result and we will build on that," he told BBC Sport.

"We play Tranmere on Tuesday [in the Capital One Cup], I have seen them play in pre-season and I know it will be a very tough game but hopefully we can build on today's performance.

"I thought we played very well in the first half but we tailed off in the second half, which disappointed me."

Tuesday's clash with Tranmere is scheduled to kick off at 7.45pm.
