Paris Saint-Germain boss Laurent Blanc: 'We have to continue to defy terrorists'

Paris Saint-Germain boss Laurent Blanc believes that the French government have made the right decision to allow football to return, one week removed from the Paris attacks.

Paris Saint-Germain boss Laurent Blanc has given his backing to the decision for Ligue 1 matches to go ahead in France, one week removed from the terror attacks on Paris.

Last week terrorists attacked several places in Paris, including bars, restaurants and the Bataclan concert hall.

Sporting events were cancelled over the weekend following the incident, but the programme has been given the go-ahead to return, which Blanc believes is the right decision.

Blanc told reporters: "The situation is not easy. I think all footballers are affected by these events, not only the Parisians.

"Maybe the foreigners are even more affected by the attacks because they were far from Paris and saw the attacks through the international media, which has shown very negative images of Paris, even if this was the reality.

"So - yes - they are affected. Certainly they put things into perspective, but we have a psychological task ahead of us. We always say that life goes on, but that's easier said than done. It will be difficult to play football this weekend for everyone, but I think we have to. If we don't play, we rule in favour of the terrorists."

PSG face Lorient in their Ligue 1 match later today.
