New Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp reveals that he is looking to be at the club for a number of years.

Harry Redknapp has insisted that he wants to stay at Queens Park Rangers "for a few years".

Some reports had suggested that the veteran boss, who took over at Loftus Road at the weekend, would leave QPR if he was unable to keep them in the Premier League this season.

However, Redknapp has revealed that he would like to build a side that is not threatened by relegation to the Championship season after season.

"I've not come here for a short-term fix. I want to build a team here and stay here for a few years. I want to keep us up this year and go from there," he told a press conference.

"I've not come in to fight fires and they haven't called me in to try and keep them up and that is the end of that. I want to build a team so they are not in this trouble again."

One club in particular has caught Redknapp's eye this season. Under the management of Steve Clarke, West Bromwich Albion currently sit third in the Premier League table.

It is that model that Redknapp believes is worth mimicking during his time with the R's.

"You look at the clubs that are doing okay - let's take West Brom. There's been three or four years of building and they've put a team together, not just thrown a group of players together," he added.

"They've found players for the right spots to complement each other - that's building a team and it takes time. You can't just throw a group of players together because it doesn't work that way.

"I want to build a team spirit so we can establish ourselves as a good Premier League team, that's the key."

QPR are currently bottom of the table with four points from 13 outings.
