Rangers are granted permission to begin their domestic season against Brechin City on Sunday by the Scottish Football League.

Rangers have been granted conditional membership of the Scottish Football League so that they can play against Brechin City on Sunday in the Ramsdens Cup.

The club has been waiting for the go-ahead to start life in the SFL for the 2012-13 season after a turbulent summer transitioning to life under the newco.

Charles Green, chief executive of The Rangers Football Club, said: "The agreement signed today allows Rangers to be granted membership by the SFA and finally enables the club to move forward.

"The board, the manager and senior executives have been working tirelessly over the last few weeks to secure the future of the club and today is the start of that process."
