Leipzig coach unfazed by team's criticism

RB Leipzig coach Ralph Hasenhuettl dismisses criticism of his table-topping side from rival supporters.

RB Leipzig head coach Ralph Hasenhuettl has brushed aside the backlash his team have been receiving in the Bundesliga this season.

The club was founded in 2009 when energy drinks firm Red Bull acquired a fifth-tier side and, through heavy investment over several seasons, they now find themselves in the German top flight.

After 11 games of the season, Leipzig are unbeaten and lead the way in the division but have been met by hostile crowds and fan protests along the way.

"I don't know how this influences the players, you would have to ask the players," Hasenhuettl told reporters."How it influences me? We have stirred up a hornets' nest with our sporting achievements and it is normal. I don't have time to deal with those remarks, because during the week I have so many things to do, so that I don't respond to this ahead of a match. I don't think about it.

"We are not running around, cheering all day, congratulating ourselves [for being top]. We don't need that. The fact that we play good and successful football at the moment of course helps us to become more self-confident on the pitch.

"We know where we come from, we know that we have a young team and we know that don't have much experience in the Bundesliga yet."

Leipzig travel to Freiburg when Bundesliga action resumes tonight.
