Real Madrid include Martin Odegaard in Champions League squad

Real Madrid include 16-year-old starlet Martin Odegaard in their squad for the knockout stages of the Champions League.

Real Madrid have included teenager Martin Odegaard in their squad for the Champions League knockout stages.

The 16-year-old, who joined the reigning European champions on a three-and-a-half-year deal in January, would become the youngest ever player in the competition should he feature against Schalke 04 in the last 16 later this month.

The Norwegian has impressed since his arrival at the Bernabeu and picked up two assists on his debut for Real Madrid Castilla earlier today.

Spanish newspaper Marca is now reporting that he has been included in Carlo Ancelotti's squad for the Champions League as Real Madrid look to become the first team to defend the title in its current guise.

Celestine Babayaro is current holder of the competition's youngest player accolade at 16 years and 87 days, a record Odegaard would break if he were to play against Schalke on February 17 having only turned 16 in December.
