Pepe says that Real Madrid deserved their 3-1 victory over Barcelona at Camp Nou in the Copa del Rey on Tuesday.

Real Madrid defender Pepe has said that he is pleased with his side's performance against Barcelona at Camp Nou on Tuesday.

Cristiano Ronaldo's double and a header from Raphael Varane saw the defending Spanish champions win the second leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final tie 3-1.

"We played a solid game," Pepe told Madrid's official website. "We're really happy and now both the fans and the team should enjoy this important day. If we play as a team, we're hard to beat.

"We started the match well. We had done our homework and we knew that if we scored a goal we would equalise the playoff. The team played well, worked hard and scored three important goals."

A 1-1 draw in the first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu last month meant that Madrid went through to the final 4-2 on aggregate.
