Sergio Ramos has returned to first-team training with Real Madrid, fuelling suggestions that he will be fit for El Clasico on March 22.
The Spanish international picked up a hamstring problem against Sevilla at the start of last month and has faced a number of setbacks in his recovery.
However, the defender has now returned to full training with Los Blancos and while he will not be involved against Schalke 04 in the Champions League on Tuesday, a return for the league match at Barcelona is a distinct possibility.
Luka Modric has also come through a week of training following a thigh problem, while James Rodriguez is reportedly on the road to recovery.
Real Madrid relinquished first spot in La Liga at the weekend after losing 1-0 at Athletic Bilbao.
