Wales manager Ryan Giggs believes that reported Manchester United target Gareth Bale should remain at Real Madrid beyond the end of the season.

Wales manager Ryan Giggs has claimed that Gareth Bale should remain at Real Madrid beyond the end of the season.

The former Tottenham Hotspur forward has long been linked with a return to the Premier League amid a reportedly uncertain future at the Bernabeu.

Manchester United have been mooted as a possible destination for Bale, whose 2013 move from Spurs to Real was for a then-world record fee of £85.3m.

Bale has struggled to earn a regular starting spot under Zinedine Zidane this season, but Giggs insists that the 29-year-old is well placed in the Spanish capital.

Asked by Sky Sports News whether Real remains the best place for Bale, Giggs said: "Yes. I went to see him against Paris Saint-Germain [in the Champions League last-16].

"When you go there the aura around the club, there are only a handful of clubs who have got that.

"So, of course, you want to stay there. He's won three Champions League titles, the proof is in that. When you are at clubs like that you are always going to win things."

Bale became Wales's top scorer during the Manchester United legend's first game in charge in a 6-0 win against China this week.
