Martin O'Neill, Roy Keane extend Republic of Ireland contracts

Republic of Ireland boss Martin O'Neill signs a new two-year contract extension, while assistant Roy Keane and fellow backroom staff members have also agreed to stay on.

Martin O'Neill has agreed terms on a contract extension to remain on as Republic of Ireland manager until the end of the Euro 2020 campaign.

Each of O'Neill's key backroom staff members, including assistant manager Roy Keane, have also signed new deals.

The 65-year-old had verbally agreed to put pen to paper on a new contract during Ireland's most recent qualifying campaign, which ended in disappointment as they lost to Denmark in a two-legged playoff.

O'Neill appeared to backtrack on that stance in November, however, and he was recently in the running to take over at Stoke City.

Ahead of tomorrow's UEFA Nations League draw, the Football Association of Ireland has moved to clarify that new deals have now been officially signed by O'Neill and his coaching staff.

Ireland return to action in March with a friendly against Turkey, before taking on France five days later.
