Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli admits that it is "important" his side learn from their defeat to Manchester United ahead of two big games next week.

Dele Alli has admitted that he is "disappointed" by Tottenham Hotspur's defeat to Manchester United, but insists that his side are still in a good position to push on.

The Lilywhites' four-match winning run in the Premier League came to an end at Old Trafford on Saturday as they fell to a late 1-0 loss, seeing them lose ground on the top two.

Spurs midfielder Alli is content with his side's current league standing of third place, however, and believes that lessons can be taken from this weekend's setback ahead of a big week at home and in Europe.

"We don't just want to compete, we want to win and as a team," he told reporters. "We're frustrated but now we have two big games coming up, Real Madrid and Palace so it's important we learn from this, work on what's gone wrong and keep building as a team because we're still in a fantastic position and we've been in good form, so we can't let this knock us back.

"It's disappointing when you come to a place like this, you play well and you are hoping for a win or at least a draw. We felt we should have won really and to go to United and think you should have won shows where we are as a team."

Tottenham are three points adrift of Man United and eight off Manchester City, whom they face at the Etihad Stadium in mid-December.
