William Gallas faces late fitness test for Spurs

William Gallas could make his return to the Tottenham side this afternoon but faces a late fitness test before Spurs' clash with QPR.

William Gallas could make his first league appearance of the season for Tottenham today, should he pass a fitness test before Spurs' clash with QPR this afternoon.

Harry Redknapp's side have been struggling for options at centre-half, with Gallas and Michael Dawson having both faced long layoffs and Ledley King unable to feature on a regular basis.

Captain Dawson could be forced to have surgery on a recurring Achilles injury and faces months on the sidelines, but the Frenchman could be in line for a return to the Spurs side today after recovering from a calf strain.

"He (Gallas) hasn't played a game since last season and we have to see how he is. He could be involved," Redknapp told the Spurs website.

King could also be in contention to feature, while midfielders Steven Pienaar and Sandro may be available after injuries.
